Writingville--New App In My Life :) -- Part 2

Anyway ...

By 2009, most of my friends had "migrated" to Facebook. I had an account there, but hadn't used it since setting it up because of a former friend. So, over to Facebook I went.

Facebook had more apps/games than MySpace. Before I knew it, I was playing Farmville, Farm Town, Cafe World, Treasure Madness, Treasure Isle, YoVille, Fishville, Island Paradise, Petville, Mafia Wars, and I lost track after that. I am sure there are more I am failing to list, but not really missing :)

For a while, they were fun, addictive fun actually, and that is the problem...or was the problem. Some days, that was all I would do...games, games, games while putting in job applications. I even neglected my writing because I was either filling out job applications or playing games.

Sounds like addiction, right? In some respects it is, and it can be serious. It got so bad that I started keeping a journal to document when I had to sign in and "tend" to fields, pets, stoves ... it was never-ending. I will be up front and honest, I didn't neglect my family, friends, job, health or finances. But, neglecting my writing was damage enough. If I had paid more attention to that back in 2008/2009, I bet 2010/2011 would have been very different for me.

In May 2009, I got a job and it was then my creativity started flowing again, but at the wrong times. I had no idea being a delivery driver for a pizza company could bring out the creativity. I think it was the combination of those lonely drives (some out to the middle of nowhere) and the music I was listening to. As a result of my job, I had to limit my online activities, which now included "Project: 365" (another time and blog to discuss that).

In September 2009 I was injured at work, and put off work for about 2 months, then it was modified duty which meant my boss didn't have a place to put me. By the end of 2009, I was out of work for medical reasons. I had to believe it happened for a reason, there was a purpose, finding out what it is .... that is another thing. I started Physical Therapy in February 2010, and as a result, I reduced the amount of games I was playing. Some it was because my friends no longer played, others I lost interest in and the remainder?? I didn't have time for...

And that was a good thing ....
