May 2010 brought another profound change in my life....
I started watching a particular show online (as I had to cancel my cable service) and fell in love with it :) That was the ultimate turning point for me in realizing I had more of a life than the apps. Being able to write again, even creating ideas and character profiles was amazing. Some of it was about TV shows (more like "tie-in" novels), but it was better than that drought I had weathered. I ended up with a flood that was welcomed.
A few weeks later, I purchased the seasons of the show that were available on DVD and in watching them, I was more inspired. Not a day went by that I didn't write, have an idea or set-up my character profiles. Music and TV have been my biggest inspirations for writing, but none like this particular TV show. While I had other favorite shows, this one was a perfect fit. There were only about three other series I felt that way about, but they weren't even close.
By the end of the Summer 2010, I was less into the "apps" and writing full-time. I had too many stories to outline, attempt to revise, and some yet to tell.
Of course trying to explain that to family and friends is another story. I felt bad because some had come to rely on me for help on the games, and I was no longer interested. Some friends kept sending requests for me to join more and more games, and I was overwhelmed. I politely declined and even posted reminders to quit sending invites.
By Christmas 2010, I was again weeding out the apps as I was preparing for my New Year's Resolution--reduce the apps I was playing to focus more on my writing....
